Eva Akintola, aka Zoe Washburne (Firefly)

Previously, she was Zoe Washburne from the show Firefly. After fighting in--and losing--the Unification War, Zoe joined her comrade-in-arms Mal Reynolds in starting their crew. They flew in a Firefly-class ship named Serenity--a piece of shit if Zoe ever saw one, but it became home. It was where she met her husband Wash (though he took some time to grow on her). Sure, most of what they did was illegal, but they did their best to help people where they could and do the right thing; once a freedom fighter, always a freedom fighter. And she kept on doing it even after she lost Wash, though things were never quite the same.

Now she's Eva Akintola, 26. Eva grew up in London, the daughter of a Nigerian doctor and English schoolteacher. They lived a comfortable life, and though they tried for more children, Eva ended up being an only child. She's always been loyal, and committed. Her parents had high expectations, but they also gave her considerable freedom and support. There were no objections when she wanted to go to drama school, and Eva never considered doing anything with less than her full effort. She got guest appearances on television here and there, but no one really knew who she was until she was in an episode of Black Mirror. (They still didn't know her name, but she got recognized more than once as 'that girl from that ep of Black Mirror'.) It led to being offered a spot in a new Netflix sci-fi show, and the potential for her career to really take off.

Eva worried she'd have to move to LA, a city she really can't see herself being happy living in, but it turns out the show is shooting in New Orleans. Well, mostly outside it, in the swamps. Eva didn't know a whole lot about New Orleans, but after a few weeks, she's starting to settle in. She has a tendency to keep things to herself, or to her private life, and it's caused people to write her off as cold or unfeeling or a bitch before. But when she really cares about someone, and she's in a comfortable space, she lets it show. She's really looking forward to her show being successful, but she's not looking forward to the personal scrutiny that could bring.

Eva is currently unaware.
